About This Hut
At the bottom of the South Downs and in the heart of the village of West Ashling, The Orchard sits in a beautiful pear and apple orchard. It is equipped with central heating, a kitchenette, an en-suite bathroom (shower & toilet) and outdoor seating — with driveway parking and self check-in, so you can arrive at your own pace.
In spring the blossom is really something — in autumn the air smells of apples. It’s a good place to be at any time of year.
There are four pubs and restaurants within walking distance: The Richmond Arms, only a 2 minute walk in West Ashling; The Horse & Groom, a 15 minute walk in East Ashling; The Hare and Hound, a 20 minute walk; and Concierge, 20 minutes away.
The Space
The double bedroom is in a traditional Shepherd’s Hut with all the modern amenities, including central heating, an en-suite bathroom (shower and toilet) and a mini kitchenette (fridge, toaster, kettle).
West Ashling is perfectly located for many cultural and fun days out. Goodwood Estate — famous for its Revival, Festival of Speed, Goodwoof, and world-renowned horse racing — is only ten minutes away. Chichester with its festival theatre and Pallant House Gallery is ten minutes in the other direction. Bosham, a picturesque seaside village, is five minutes away. The popular West Wittering beach is a 25 minute drive. And we’re at the foot of the South Downs, with beautiful walks, bike rides, and good pubs all around.

The Shepherd’s Hut and surrounding area is for your use only — completely private, with your own driveway parking, garden space and outdoor seating. Self check-in via lockbox, so you can arrive whenever suits you after 3 pm.
